I fully recommend that you use the Quick Start Guide when starting to play Evony. But what do you do next???
The first thing I would suggest is that you continue to build and maximize your resource fields. Focus on building and upgrading your Sawmills and Quarries. Lumber and Stone are the two most valuable resources in Evony, and can be easily traded for gold in the Marketplace. Food and Iron can be purchased when needed for a much lower price.
The Second thing you need to focus on is building your troops and walls. Once you have enough resources, you can use them to build up your army and walls. During this time you will also have to be upgrading your Buildings and Researching Technologies in the Academy as necessary. Once you have a good amount of Troops built up, I recommend starting to attack level 1 and level 2 valleys. Here you will find Medals that will be necessary for Promotion and Prestige building. I will post another article on how to do this later.
Lastly, in your free time follow the Quests. Pick Quests that give you a good return on your investment. Look at the required resources to complete the task vs. the reward you get for completion. The more you can maximize your efforts in the game, the better off you will be. Make sure that you always have something going. At the same time, you can be building, researching, training troops, and fortifying your walls. I would reccommend always trying to have these things going on at the same time. The quicker you can build up your City, the quicker you will be able start the fun part of the game!

The most important thing I can tell you about starting the game (besides using the Quick Start Guide) is to take advantage of Beginner’s Protection. When you start playing Ev0ny, you get 7 days of protection. This means that in the first seven days of playing the game no one can attack you or plunder your resources.
One way that you can opt out of the Beginner’s Protection is by upgrading your Town Hall to a Level 5. Take my advise and don’t do this before your seven days is up. I make the mistake of doing this and within two days I was attacked 5 times! It took me a good week to build up my resources so I could upgrade my Walls, and build my Army.
Within your first seven days, before the protection is up I would recommend you do the following:
Build an army of at least 250 Workers, 1500 Scouts, and 500 Warriors. This is a good start so you can start attacking low level vallys and start your second city.
Also, upgrade your walls as far as you can go and set up your traps and abatis. This will somewhat deflect Intruders after your seven days is up.
Just some general guidelines to follow…. More to come later on how to build your second city and more!

Ok, so I got involved with Evony basically on a fluke. I am a Mom, and a publisher of a small magazine in Phoenix, AZ. Sales and Marketing is my specialty, not online gaming. I do howeve like to play games… Mostly board games, but I do have Wii and have proudly beaten Super Mario Galaxy. So yes, I do like games, but have never pursued online games such as Evony. I had recenly gotten involved with a team of programmers to take on another project, when they discovered Evony. We quickly decided to put together a Suite of Websites to help players with the game. Our sites include www.EvonyNet.com, www.EvonyPedia.com, and www.EvonyPress.com.
So my job in all of this is to learn the game! What could be better than that? In the process I will share with you the things that I have learned along the way as a beginner and will hopefully help you in the process. There may even be times when I need help! Yes, even with the great resources I have in EvonyPedia, I woud still love your input.
If you are a beginner to Evony, be sure to check my postings daily. I will share simple steps to getting you well on your way to playing the game. Your first step of course is to check out the quickstart guide at http://www.evonypedia.com/start.
I would love to hear your comments and suggestions! Good luck playing the game!
